Wonder if Slacker has a Classic Christmas music stream???
There are 10 (!) Slacker Christmas channels...Holiday Hits, Holiday Party, Holiday Classics (my favorite and probably what you are after), Contemporary Christmas, Country Holiday, R&B/Soul Holiday, Rock/Alt. Holiday, Classical Holiday, Jazz Holiday, and Dysfunctional Holiday. I'm sure there's plenty of overlap between some channels, but it's quite a variety.

There should be a Law (I hate Laws as we have too many of them already) stating that Christmas Decorations can't be promoted until Dec. 1 and when I run for President of the USA I am going to include that as one of my Planks!!!
A black friday with no Christmas stuff would be very boring.

Should I run out and buy a Christmas Tree???

If it starts any earlier I will just buy an Artificial Christmas Tree and leave it up year round (saves a lot of work taking it down and putting it up)!!!
I know somebody that did this, but they changed the decorations to match the current holiday. They put up hearts for valentine's day, etc.

Music Choice's Sounds of the Season had Halloween music through 11/1, then switched to Christmas music. Too soon, I say, but there are other choices.

At least FiOS TV doesn't tier their music channels...

They, of course, also offer much less choice along those lines....

Channel 815 is on DIRECTV 7S at 119W so anyone with an SL3 is screwed out of receiving this channel (and quite a few others) regardless of subscription package.
I complained last year. I wanted the Irish music channel, as I love them Irish tunes on occasion.... and this channel is:

1) Only available with Choice Ultimate and Premier.
2) Only available with a SL5 setup.

So I told em: If I pay for a channel, I should have the capability to receive it without paying extra. And they gave me an upgrade to a LNB-5 on my current dish. They did have to charge me the $50 for installation, but they solved it by giving me an immediate credit of $50 on my bill. I could live with that :)

The person on the phone (a supervisor) agreed with me, and told me they had been receiving calls from other people, with regards to some of the religious channels that are also available on certain satellites.

So there are ways of getting an upgrade for sure. Of course it could have been that I was a brand new customer at the time, (only 1 month in) and they figured.... oh, the installer probably did it wrong, lets help this guy out.

Either way, I was impressed and happy.

We need to have a 'no gift buying allowed' Christmas one year. Make people realize how crazy all that stuff really is, and we'd have a very calm holiday season. :)
But our GNP would suffer enormously! Our rates would go up as there'd be almost no advertising for the months before X-mas. Then the grinches....:D

I have been doing some volunteer work in the past around Christmas, and shame on me..... it just hasn't happened in the last 3 or 4 years because of some personal health issues, a big move, lots of stuff happening, etc..... but what most people really DO seem to forget, is that Christmas is not about loading up your family with as much gifts as your credit cards can hold, but about giving to OTHER families, outside of your own home.

I am not a religious person by any means, but if you want to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, your Christmas should probably look a lot different then the one you are celebrating right now..... which most likely consists of about $1,000 spent on gifts, food, and keeping everyone close to you happy..... and $50 in donations to the needy, because hey.... we need to do SOMETHING, right?

We're totally going off topic here..... but I have just started browsing volunteermatch.org to see if I can make a difference this Christmas. One of the best Christmases I ever had was several years ago, when I volunteered with a organization that delivered a box of Christmas presents to families in need. I was part of the delivery team that year, and we ended up in some of the poorest neighborhoods in town, but saw some of the happiest smiles on children I have ever seen.

(End of public service announcement :D )

It look like directv channel 815 will be map to channel 801 starting at 6am Thanksgiving Day. Hoildays and Happens and look like there won't be any other christmas music channels from the program guide on D* website

Any idea when they're going to put this on 101? I don't understand why they didn't just put it up there to begin with.
Probably right after thanksgiving. I seem to remember they moved it on the Friday after thanksgiving last year....

Interesting info. Just curious, what is the source and what is the significance of the asterisks?
