My copy of WIRED magazine showed up today, and leafing through it I noticed the following two page ad:

**********

THE TRUTH WILL BE UNLEASHED 09.06.08

TRUE HD 24/7 - ONLY CINEMAX HD

It all begins with the exclusive premier of the Bourne Ultimatum . At 8PM EST on September 6th, Cinemax HD will become the first and only True HD premium movie destination, broadcasting exclusively in visually-opulent 1080i. On Cinemax HD you will never see programming that's been "up-rezzed" to 1080i from standard definition sources or lower resolution formats. You will only see True HD - over two million pristine pixels per 16:9 widescreen frame. For sheer visual impact, no other HD channel comes close.

**********

So, ignoring all the fluffy ad-speak, my question is this: Is this going to be a new channel, or is the regular main Cinemax channel going to be sure and only show HD material? Does anybody have any ideas or thoughts?

Interesting in viewing their Guide they are already showing a number of films in "True HD".

From their FAQ:
Why are some shows marked with a "True HD" flag on the Cinemax schedule?

Programming that is created in 1080i HD is labeled "True HD". Any program not originally produced in HD is upconverted by Cinemax to the 1080i format.
I think the ad might be referring to the Cinemax East & West channels (which we have now) going 100% non-upconverted...and not all their channels.

But Co-Ed Confidential in TrueHD might be interesting ;)
