I have just noticed that I am getting the Searching for Sat Code 771.
I have two HR 20-700's. One of them indicates "Code 771 Sat.1. The other indicates Code 771 Sat. 2. This appears on numerous channels ie. 229,241,248,249,276,277,280,282,284,286,289,293,312,327,348,359,363. Getting ready to call Directtv but hoped to get some input from the forum before calling. I did the red button reset with no favorable results. Both DVR's are six years old. In addition, both are super slow with the remote as others have complained.

Go into your SETUP -> SATELLITE and see what your signal strengths are on 99c, 103ca, and 103cb. All the transponders not marked NA should be > 85. If you have any lower than 70, then your dish is out of alignment. If there is a pattern like 94 59 93 63 etc, then you may have a bad LNB.

Is your system a SWM with a single cable feeding the dish, or a legacy with 4 cables feeding the dish?
Checked the signals on the Sats and found most of them in the 70's. Not knowledgeable about the SWM so can't answer that. Called DTV and after the tech did some checking they decided to send out service tech on Tuesday PM.
DTV tech just left. It seems my dish was out of line just a few inches but enough to cause loss of signal.Good to go at least until the next Santa Ana windstorm.

At the frequencies we are using with these dishes, "a few inches" is quite a lot...beyond quite a lot. A quarter of an inch is gigantic. An eighth of an inch is large. (in terms of how much of a degree or how many degrees you are actually changing the aiming angle.)

That's why dish mounts have to be so stable. Any movement is too much movement. Glad you got it fixed.
Yeah by the time you play the angle changed by 1/8 of an inch movement of the ODU 22,000 miles away you are way off the satellites. Dish alignment is one of the most frequent issues I see on service calls. Glad you are back up and running.
Unfortunately, the fix did not hold. Last night I was still having Code 771 while trying to watch Justified on Ch 248 FX. The picture would be OK for 10 or 15 minutes and then freeze with Code 771. Sometimes it would come back for a few minutes and then go back to 771. I did identify that I do have the SWM with 4 cables. Wonder if the problem could be a short someplace. Will have to call DTV back today.
DTV replaced my dish yesterday. I now have the Slimline SWIM. Tech removed the two cables that ran to each of my HR20-700's with just one. Was surprised when later in the day a Directtv truck pulled up to my house and the gentleman announced that he was there to do a quality control check. Took pictures of the dish, the cable input thru the walls, and took a picture of the tv screen that ran the system test. Might try to update to the HR-34 next.
