Codes for Peanut Remote?

We are using two different remotes with the THR-22 -- the peanut and an extra DirecTV remote. Although we much prefer the classic TiVo remote, there is one advantage to using the DirecTV unit: it actually turns off the blue circle, which is a much desired feature in the bedroom.

I read a message a while ago in which someone had managed to program the TiVo remote to turn iff the unit but I never saw how he actually did it. How can get that to happen with my TiVo?

I'm not sure if there are any ways to do this, but one thing you CAN do is use the peanut remote, hit the TiVo button, go to Messages and Setup, and then there will be an option to Restart or Standby (it's one of the bottom options) and you'll choose Stand By or power off. You have to chose a few different menu options but it will power the entire receiver off including the searing blue ring of death.
Going through all that everytime we turn off the TV is not an option. At least one person has posted that he managed to turn off both the TV and the TiVo with one button. And since the DirecTV remote does work that way, I'd really like to know how he did it.

In his next post he clarified that he didn't do that:

Well I missed that one  ...thanks

Not being able to shut off the blue eye is the only annoyance we have with the THR22 ...and I get asked about it every couple of weeks.

On the non Tivo receiver, pressing the left and right buttons next to the blue circle at exactly the same time dims it. It has about 4 levels and one of them is off.

If you can not get that to work, try some window tint, maybe a couple of layers and tape it on with Scotch tape. Each layer will reduce the intensity of the light.
I have done that to another item that I have that has extremely bright lights on the front and it works.
