I was wondering if it is possible to combine my D* feed from the satellite with a feed from an antenna and then split the feed at the TV. The room in which the TV is in only has one RG6 wire coming from the basement, so it would be nice to do this and not drill another hole. Also, the multiswitch has an open feed labeled flex feed 2 or something, if I plugged the antenna in there would send the OTA and D* feeds everywhere together?

yes it is possible. It's called diplexing. Since I don't do it I will let someone else around here give you more information on it. You can also search for the word here. You should find a couple of threads on it.

Diplexing with HDTV is not recommended due to the Ka signals. Flex port is not for TV antenna and sounds like you have a WB68 which says no diplexing for you.

you cant diplex with the ka/ku hd dish, the off-air signal has the same bandwith as the hd locas from the sat and will provide you with a ghosting image on your picture and there for defeate what you are trying to do. best thing to do is run a second line.

I gotta know where you got that. There are many people here that Diplex with SWM's too. Including the SWMLine.

No, you can't use the flex port(s)

You can try [works for many] moving the BBC closer to the multi-switch [from the back of the receiver]. This will convert the channels that are in the same band as your OTA, so you won't have then mixing.
So: Zinwell WB68 -> BBC [connected to the SAT input] diplexer ---- [second diplexer] --> SAT input.

I very successfully used "the BBC trick" to diplex OTA before I got the SWM.

Simply diplex AFTER the BBCs. It was easy for me since the 4 sat coax lines run to an outside box. I was able the install the BBCs to the grounding block, then diplex the OTA downstream, from there the single coax runs go to the various rooms.

Just make sure you install the BBCs in the correct direction with the pigtail pointing toward the dish, and not the IRD.

Also, there's no "ghosting" in the digital world.

this would be backward, since the pigtail connects to the receiver. [connecting the pigtail to the diplexer SAT input would be correct]

I had moved the BBC in front of the diplexer when I had my H20-600. As I recall, it worked just fine. I removed all that stuff when I replaced the H20 with an HR21, since the HR21 has no OTA capability. Since then, I've installed a SWM8 and I just ordered my AM21 yesterday, so now I'm on the "new path" for OTA.

Yes, VOS you are correct...the pigtail points towards the IRD. Good catch!

The grounding block was a great/easy place to insert them into the path.
