This is a new one: "Wind fade"?
Comcast seems to be reaching just a bit here.
Besides the "ugly dish", & "rain fade", they've now come up with "wind fade" in their ad as a reason not to use a SAT service.

Wind fade actually happens. It happened to me right after my Slimline was installed. The installer didn't tighten the bolts enough, so my dish was swiveling just enough to cause the signal to go in and out.

This must be a one in a million case. Especially if it came back when the wind died down.
Unlike rain fade that is a valid problem.

Wind fade is only going to happen with an improper install. Fix the install and it won't happen. Rain fade on the other hand can happen even with a perfect install but it should be a lot less common with the perfect install.

What you're describing is a faulty installation. You don't get "wind fade" if your dish is properly installed. Comcast is obviously trying to convince people that "wind fade" will happen to all dishes, which is not true.
While "rain fade" is an issue, the outages are not as frequent or bad as cable would lead one to believe (every time it rains).

Wow, today has been a pretty negative day. Prior to rain I have pretty bad signal problems since having the slimline installed . I can't say if it's wind, high cloud tops... lower frequency signals. But I can say that if I'm trying to watch something and it's interrupted and it's unacceptable. And if someone is here who has cable they don't understand and it turns them off to D* forever.

If the rain is coming in from the SW, then you SHOULD lose signal PRIOR to rain, and regain it when the rain actually arrives. This pretty much describes how my rain fade works in my neck of the woods. You can predict weather using your 771 messages

Rarely does this happen daily as it does with D* when it rains. I know it has to do with my area and the fact that we have after noon storms. But I didn't have the issue pre HD, and I do now.

Mine has been out for about 10 -15 minutes a day (when it rains).

I actually posted in another thread about the issues my parents were having with cable and their service going out (encouraging someone to get D*) ... I don't like Comcast and agree that D* is better but I'm not going to fanboy up and jump in and say that everything is hunky-dory. But it's a hard sell right now and that's not going to change with everyone sitting on their thumbs saying "Mine's Great!"

I think when it rains a little during football season you'll see more gripes on here.

That's exactly how it works, doesn't mean it should.
