User-generated content is hot, and Comcast's new Ziddio web site is tapping into the craze with a pair of amateur video contests, the cable company said Monday.

"We recognize the increasing demand for user-generated content and its growing place in the entertainment industry," said Liz Schimel, senior vp for entertainment at Comcast Interactive Media. "Ziddio is leveraging Comcast's content relationships and multiplatform reach to provide amateur creators great opportunities to showcase their content."

"Ten Day Take," a pilot contest created in collaboration with independent production company Endemol, pits first-time TV producers against each other for $50,000 in seed money and a slot on Comcast's On Demand service. The winners of comedy contest "No Talent Nation" will perform live at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival next year in Aspen, Colo.

To enter, competitors put their video submissions up on Ziddio, where users and judges will choose the finalists.
