The FCC has already nailed them for one of their bandwidth restriction attempts with the P2P crowd.

But this points out what is undeniably going to become an issue. The ISP's in the United States have failed miserably at building out the proper infrastructure to deliver bandwidth at the levels that many other countries enjoy. As there can be little doubt that the delivery method of choice for HD entertainment is going to be over the internet, and also via satellite, the bandwidth issue is going to rear it's ugly head.

I have no doubt that the ISP's have been blissfully operating under the concept that if the situation becomes bad enought the government will step in and offer some kind of incentives to get the ISP's to fix the problem at taxpayer expense, or to somehow allow one of the various "schemes" the ISP's have been dreaming up to generate additional revenue from the internet.

As a consumer I am willing to pay more to get more... reasonably... but the ISP's are stalling on a problem they know is coming at breakneck speed.
