My old D* rca receiver remote control had a button that said skip, and when you pushed it, it went up in intervals of 30 seconds everytime you pushed it. Then when you changed the channel it went back to to original channel that you were on. I am poor and cannot afford a dvr. So if there is anyone out there that can tell me if there is any possible way to use a commercial skip feature on the H20-100 it would be greatly appreciated.

If you find any kind of receiver that can make live TV skip through time, I'd be interested. My flux capacitor is burnt out.

The answer to your question is no. Only DVRs can skip forward and then only if you're watching something that is sufficiently delayed behind live in the first place.

WHAT??

i just want to watch family guy and when a commercial comes on i want to watch snf. commercial skip is feature that automaticly changes the channel back for you. i will push it 4 times to get it to 2 minutes. then i will put on football and 2 minutes later fox will automaticly come back on.

it is a feature that has been around since at least the 90's.

no flux needed

i thought i worded that so i would not get a dumb answer

You are asking for DVR exclusive features in a non-DVR receiver, are you not?

You cannot skip commericals (or anthing else) on a non-DVR receiver like the H20.

Upon further reading (and painstaking interpretation of some not-so-wonderful grammar), it looks like you might be looking for a feature that doesn't exist on the H20 where it would go to a blue screen or perhaps jump to another channel and then back automatically after a period of time determined by a series of button presses.

How can you POSSIBLY skip a commercial when a receiver is receiving in REAL (LIVE) TIME? Methinks you are confused. In order to SKIP something it needs to be stored somewhere and played back (like fast-forward on a old time VCR tape). What you "want" to do (based on the way you explain it) is physically impossible unless you have a DVR or some magic way or storing information. You can't skip what isn't there. You are describing exactly hw a DVR works with a 30 second skip. They have been around since 1998 or so.

my sd rca NON DVR (NOT A DVR) (NOT A DVR) recevier had a commerical skip feature, it is even buit into tv's, GE's and RCA's to name couple. go to wikipedia and find out what commecial skip is and leave my post and question alone.

jilardi2 is correct. This was a feature which automatically took you to a different channel so you could watch something else while the commercial was on, it wasn't really a "skip" as such. More like a commercial "miss". As jlardi says, there were a number of RCA and GE TVs with this feature. The RCA XL100 for one.

http://www.amazon.com/RCA-XL-100-E13208GY-13-TV/dp/B00000JDFV you will note one of the features is "30 second commercial skip"

I had one of those RCAs as well and they were kind of neat (and useful.) That was wayyyyy back when RCA started making the receivers and they were the next one to make them after Hughes, I think it was. Have had D* for over 10 years, so am thinking that it was around 10 years ago or so that I got that unit. It long since died and that feature was left out of any that I have had since that time.

Also, had the same feature on GE & RCA TVs, but haven't seen that one since long ago either.

Although you are not imagining it, it seems that maybe GE (maker of RCAs as well) may have had the patent on it and nobody else ever bought it for legal use?

It would be nice if the D* receivers (all of them) had this feature, but I am certainly not going to hold my breath of the implementation of it. :D

Every time I "skip" to another channel during a commercial, all I find is another commercial. :(
 me too ..

No, the H2x series does not have this ability, but it does sound like an interesting concept.
