I was able to connect my Linksys WGA600N to my new HR21 using this advice I found elsewhere:

First a warning: whenever you disconnect the ethernet cable from the back of the DVR, be sure the DVR unit is not turned on.

Configure the Gaming adapter to work with a PC or laptop in your home to configure the gaming adapter. Load the CD on the PC or laptop and then test the internet connection by replacing the internet connection of the PC or laptop with the Gaming adapter.

Next, directly hardwire your DirecTV DVR to your wireless router. This should get you past any errors. Run the connection test from the DVR to confirm your connection.

Lastly, connect the gaming adapter to the DVR and rerun the test. From that point it should work. It did for me.

Good luck!
