Just a simply question...

How do you have your setup done?

D* receiver --> Audio Receiver --> TV

My audio receiver has the ability to take in video also although I have never set it up this way. Are there any perks to doing it this way?

How is yours setup?

I connect the standard definition video from the D* receiver to my Yamaha home theatre amp, and then to the TV. That way I can switch between DVD, VCR, etc with one remote for sound and picture. The HD component signals from the H20 I send straight to the TV. Some Home Theatre amplifiers have componet video switching also, mine does not. I always use fiber optic for the audio, digital input to the Yamaha and set for Dolby 5.1 when it is available.

My audio receiver also has video swithcing, but I also do not use it. I have found that with my last 4 setups, that using the tv as monitor works best for me. With the right remote, you can control the video source and audio very smoothly. The tv is on one source most of the time especially now that HR20 has OTA. For sound, just select a new source on the amp/receiver when going to DVD etc. Use hdmi/component as much as possible and optical/digital cable for best quality sound especially for Dolby. As for perks in using video switching in the receiver, I feel that the fewer connections in the video signal, the better, the signal doesn't really need to go there.(opion) Don't feel that you need to fill every plug-in that is available. Sometime, simpler is better.:flag:
