I have the Direct TV iPad app and that works great; however, not all channels are available and the wifi connection isn't able to always produce HD quality display. So, I was wondering if I could connect my iPad via HDMI (with the adapter) to my Direct TV box. I would do this in lieu of my TV when watching a movie on DVD and such...thanks in advance for any info!

Unfortunately this will not work as the iPad cannot be used as a monitor in any situation. You could buy a slingbox and use that with the iPad.
