My HR20 is feeding my Denon 2807 via optical cable and HDMI. That is connecting to my Sony KDS-R60XBR1. All good.

This setup is in a finished basement, and the componets are hidden in an unfinished area. Still, all good.

Now I am being asked to setup a TV in the unfinished area where some home gym equipment resides. As a perfect spot for this TV is right near the HR20, my question is whether I can connect a 2nd TV to the HR20 via simple composite cables and not sacrifice the video or audio output feeding the XBR1.

I know that the outputs are working, but I am looking for someone more knowledgable than me to tell me if the "output power" of the HR20 is in any way being "diluted" by attaching multiple TVs directly to the box.

Yes... you will be fine.

The output will not be drained.

Only problem is, if that person asking you to setup the other TV wants to watch something different from what you're watching. :hurah:

I wrote a new resource pdf showing how to connect up:

Connecting The HR20 to Multiple TVs

Here is the synopsis:

The HR20 has multiple outputs that are all on at the same time. The attached one-page guide tells how to connect multiple TV's to one HR20.
It also suggests the how to get the best picture quality.

In addition, steps are given to set up an RF Modulator to broadcast through a home's antenna cabling.

Specific Wiring diagrams and sample part numbers are included.

Take care,

Craig

I have a similar setup with my HR10, but I am using my Denon 3806 to feed the 2nd TV.

In my basement, I have my TV in the media room. Next to it is the pool table/bar area. I wanted a TV in there as well. So my HR10 is feeding the 3806 via component. From the 3806, I up converting the component out from the HR10 to HDMI to the main TV, but the 3806 also dual outputs the component out to the 2nd TV. The 2807 has the same dual HDMI/component outs as does the 3806.

The benefit you have with the HR20 vs. the HR10 is that the HR20 can output to component and HDMI at the same time. Ideally the 2807 would downrez the HDMI to component, but it doesn't.

I use a Niles IR system to control the HR10 from the other room.

Of course, this wouldn't matter if the 2nd TV was SD.;)
