Can someone tell me if Dish can use my existing sat pole for their dish as well as the existing cabling? I currently have the 2" pole with the Direct HD sat and I want to get the new Turbo HD from Dish. I was hoping they can put the saty on the pole and give me a new reciever and be done with it instead of mounting another pole to the roof

Thanks

Yes, probably. As long as the old pole is tall enough to mount the HD dish from Dish and aim it properly, then you're probably okay. Ditto for the cable, assuming it's RG6 and that you'll be driving the same number of tuners as before.

Where are you in Ohio? If in the Cleveland DMA, if you wait until Aug. 20th, you can get a new Eastern Arc dish. This will enable you to get all channels, including HD locals, via one dish.

I just switched from the DirecTV HD Slimline to the Dish 1000+ (I should have waited for the Eastern Arc). The installer told me the DirecTV pole is too small (1.5"?) and the Dish is slightly larger (1 5/8ths?) so he had to do a new mount on my roof to accomodate the new pole. But I'm using only one dish since locals come off of 118.7 for the Detroit DMA.

Of course the cable can be re-used.

Of course that installer did the wiring all wrong and I had to have a service call to come out and correct it. So I'm not exactly trusting of his opinion...

The Slimline is 2". There is an adapter that could have been used to mount the 1 5/8" dish on it.
