Hello,

Currently I have Slimline 5LNB and a regular dish hitting the 95 and a 6x8 switch. I have 4 cables coming down to the 6x8 switch. I currently have 3 H24s (non dvrs) and planning to add a HR34.

Now I want to change out the 6x8 switch with a SWM 16 and do MVU. So what I have gathered is this:

1) I just need to change out the 6x8 switch with the SWM 16
2) Since I have the H24 and HR34 with built in DECA I just need to run one wire from the SWM16 to the HR34.

But for the H24s, what do I do there? Does the MVU work on just one coax? Should I get any green label splitters?

You wouldn't need a swim 16 if you only have 8 tuners. The better bet would be go to a swm 8.

Ultimately I like to future proof everything. I may buy HR24s for the guest rooms so my family members that come and stay can record their own programs.

Yes, with 8 tuners you may swap it for a SWM8 or SWM16. A SWM16 would give you room for growth. The sat lines hook into them the same way: The Ka/Ku goes into the left four ports in any order, and the 95 goes into flexport 1.

You will need 1 or more green labled splitters. You may use a 4-way with the 24s(and optionally the 34) on one side. You may also use 2 2-ways with 2 receivers on each side.

If by MVU you mean:

1) RVU RVU is a technology which allows the 34 to be the receiver for up to 3 remote TVs at the same time. There are currently no DirecTV RVU client boxes. Certain Samsung smart TVs are the only RVU clients available at the moment.

2) MRV MRV stands for multi-room viewing. It allows recordings from the 34 to be played back on a remote receiver. Unless that receiver is playing back a recording, it will function as it always has.

Both use DECA to create a computer network inside the coax cable. The SWM 16 bridges DECA across the two outputs. The SWM16 requires no configuration for DECA.

You will not need an external DECA or a router.

So in the back of my H24 I have one SWM F connection and ethernet.

So the single SWM F connector handles the DECA as well?

Yes. Do not plug anything into the Ethernet port of a Hx24 when using DECA.
