Crazy question about switching setup to another dish in on screen guide

889 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  pstr8ahead
I am pretty sure that I have a single LNB dish aimed at 101 currently. My locals are off 101 in Atlanta. However, if I switch to a 3 LNB or Slimline option in the setup guide, figures show up on the 110 and 119 readings. Is this just a quirk that figures would show up on these, or do I have a Phase 3 dish? From looking at the dish, it certainly looks like a single LNB, but I could be wrong.

My readings on 110 are:
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA 96
NA 76 NA 38 NA NA NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

119 is:
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
NA NA NA NA NA NA 74 71
75 82 73 69 76 71 72 73

I don't have a HD IRD, so I can't check the MPEG 2 HD channels.

no question... you have a phase 3 or better dish

Thanks for the answer, FYI, if it matters, this was done on both a D-11 and R-15.

yep. 3 lnb for sure.. Do you have HBO? if so, look for channel 511 that will prove it for sure

I do have HBO, but when I tune to 511, the watermark at the bottom of the screen is for Sleuth and the movie is the same as on 308.

Did a red button restart on the D-11 and the readings are about the same for the each signal reading, but 511 isn't showing up in the guide and it says channel not available when I try to tune directly (favorites is set to all channels).

Then did a menu restart on the D-11 and had the same thing. Reran the onscreen setup and switched it to 5 lnb multisat (which I absolutely know I don't have) and still the same....odd....

Signal is probably about to go out on everything with an impending storm, so may be out of service for a little while.

The options I have in the setup guide in my D11-100 are: Round, Oval 2 LNBs, Oval 3 LNBs, Slimline 3 LNBs, and 5 LNB Multisat. I am on software version 0x1109.

All D-series have a 5-lnb option with new software. Even the raggedy d10-200s.

If you're positive it's a 18" single LNB dish, it's probably bleed-over from the 101. If you're not sure, take a picture and put in on here.
If you only have a round dish and you set it up as a 3lnb it will look as if you are getting 110 and 119 but you are not. The dish will only take notice of the 13v and 18v component of the satellite selection signals and so when you ask for a 110 or 119 transponder what you are getting is the equivalent transponder on 101.

Hmm I have one of the Raggedy D10-200 units and a D11-100, I'm gonna check them.
Looks like 18" or Oval2 at most. A dual LNB ignores a 22KHz tone and gives all it sees...101. TR 12/110 (38%)is a very good indicator. I can't remember ever seeing TR8/110 so high (96%) while TR12/110 is that low. TR12 on the 101 is spot beamed, so, if TR12/101 is 0-40% then you probably are seeing 101 bleed-over.

If you tune to the 400's and you get english channels and searching, then it's either an 18" dish or a bad LNB.
