We had a bad storm here the other day which knocked out our DirecTV dish. Corporate said it would be nearly two weeks before a technician can come out to repeak. I was able to find a local guy who can come out tomorrow, but I'd have to pay more... Is there any way I can get some credits on my bill to cover some of the $50 it will cost to have the local guy come out? Or is that out of the question?

The cost of a service call from D* is $49.95, same price. The agent you spoke with may have offered you a discount off of the service call price or if you have the protection plan it was offered at no charge. If you are paying for the protection plan you would have a strong business case for a credit since you had to seek out a 3rd party because the service call time frame was so far out. Either way if you call in the worst they could tell you is no.

Your homeowners insurance company should have given you plenty of "credits." ;)

No one here can tell you the answer you will get. Whenever you call a CSR, you have the opportunity to be told something different.

So call and ask.

Worst case, no. Best case, yes plus other credits for your inconvenience.
