CSN Chicago HD Compress Artifacts

I see the same thing too. It's not on every broadcast.

yep. Last couple of games had been horrible. Tonight wasn't as bad, but still noticed it.

WGN also seemed to have it a bit.

Drives me nuts.

Are we to expect this with the new HD channels coming this week. Charlie is compressing the hell out of the RSN's trying to find space.

I was watching a little of the Sox game Saturday and I swear Youtube video on a 52" screen looks better.

ha, yeah for a minute I thought one of the kids had managed to mess up all my settings on the LCD.

I can understand a bit HD-Lite (or at least live with it) but this IS worse than youtube as you said.

Its still awful during tonights game in Minnesota. Might as well watch it on the standard def channel.

well, the PQ has been better the last few days.
But, I'd still put it into the "terrible" category.

Hopefully it goes back to what it was originally.

Looked fine today during the Cubs game.

I notice the quality goes down on road games, it might have to due with the transmission back to the studio from the road city.

Maybe Comcast is sending it back on the cheap and only using a T-1 line or better yet their cable system and getting throttled as a P2P user by their own network.

Anyone notice any issues on the WGN Cubs game today?

Still shots look ok, but any moving shot had lots of artifacts.
Drives me nuts.

I watched it OTA today. And the movement always has artifacts during the games.
Unfortunately WGN thinks they need a sub-channel to take away precious bandwidth.

Must be the Cubs!!!!

Kidding aside.

I am noticing a the same artifacts on 418 FSN Midwest with the Cardinals game tonight that I did not see last night.

I usually don't complain to much about DISH HD quality but this is really bothering me.

Today is the worst I have seen it. This crap is insane.
I will be sending a complaint to the CEO email.

Just check with the neighbor and his HD looks fine on Comcast. So they can't feed me the crap that it's Comcast fault.

I guess we now know where the bandwidth came from for WFN.

I agree. The Cub's came on Comcast Sports Net on Friday was an awful picture. I just can't understand how Dish can provide this picture and call it HD. Oh, but they can give me 1080p VOD movies...but not this channel.

My wife wants me to dump Dish and get Comcast so she can get Howard TV...I may have to do that to get a decent HD picture of the sports channel. It's a shame because I love my Dish DVR and hate to get a Comcast one, but this past Friday's game was dreadful watching.
