I know this does not get as much gratitude as it should.

But.......

Today I called Directv to get two more connections added to my existing 2 DVR's that only have one connection run to them. My other DVR has two lines connected. I told the CSR the scenario, she asked the type of dish I currently had, she put in a work order to have the AT9 replace with a new slimline with the SWM built in and it is scheduled to be done.

Wow, she knew exactly what was needed and how to get it done. I did not have to say anything except that I needed more connections to the other DVR's.

Thanks Directv for getting your CSR's up to speed on the available solutions to the newer supplied technology.

Please let me know how the install goes. I started a thread last night along the same topic and was told by another poster that existing customers can not get a SWM. I'm going to call this weekend and see what can be done.

Pretty cool Mark.

You're going to like the SWMLine. :)

Mike
I have the SWM Slimline now in my system. The installer came out and asked what I wanted to do, I told him, he put the new slimline up and I am now ready to go with single wire runs to ALL of my devices.
how do I get a SWM to replace my slim line?
and how much does it cost?
Apparently, Austin is a test market for the SWM, which may explain why Mark had such good luck getting it installed:

It's not really something that can be directly requested. it's only available in our beta-markets right now. we've been told (like many other things) it'll be nationally rolled by early 09
you can get one through ebay. i got one for $125. it's awesome.

there are a number of markets now that have SWMs available at the discretion of the installer to install them if there is a need.

I did have an install cost of $100. This was charged as a special install for running two more connections to two DVR's that only had one connection. I asked the CSR to make a note that I wanted a SWM Slimline as part of the install since I was in the Austin trials market. That is what started this thread. Everything went just as I asked for. They put a 8 way splitter in so I can have three more SWM capable devices. I had to swap out a D11-500 with and H21-200 since the D11-500 was not SWM capable.

Keep that piece of information in the back of your mind if you get the opportunity to do this, All equipment must be SWM capable.

Funny how the installer took the BBC's and the 6x8 multiswitch, but left the AT9 for me to get rid of.

I'm sure someone here may want the LNB for a few bucks.
