WHY NOT HAVE THE DAM BUCS GAME ON IT? It was a great game in bad weather.

I live hundreds of miles from Tampa I'm not in their blackout zone so please don't go there plus the game was on one of the channels just not the GM channel..

Every year D does this, as more and more people laugh at the idea of paying all this money for NFLST as they now get the RZ channel for a tenth of what we pay D needs to step their game up.

There was no reason why I had to keep switching back to the Bucs game.

If a game is blacked out locally it is not included in Game Mix. That's so the home team fans cannot watch the game on the channel. NFL rule, not DirecTV.

I watched the Red Zone channel in the late time slot. With only three games being played at the time, I probably saw most of the Carolina Tampa game anyway.

As stated above, your beef should first be with the Tampa fans and then the NFL with their blackout policy. Directv is only following the blackout rules of the NFL. They can't show the game on Game Mix because then Directv customers in the Tampa market could watch the game. They can't have different versions of Game Mix for different areas of the country.

Don't feel bad. I was watching the 49ers Vs Packers game on ST. Well into the first quarter the picture froze, then went blank. Next came the game the blocked/searching for another channel message followed by another message asking if I wanted to start where I left off when switching to the other channel. My fault for forgetting it was on my local FOX channel. Fortunately I was able to continue with live coverage and caught the missed action on the Red Zone channel during a commercial break.

It's hard to have a beef with the NFL, they loosened the requirements. The team had to sell 85% of regular seats. I also heard that they were offering discounts on concessions and free parking. If a team can't sell 85% of seats for the season opener with these deals, there are other issues. They were 9,000 short I believe of the minimum of 56,000 tickets.

This won't be the last time this happens, either. I don't think the Bucs have sold out a single home game this season.

1. They could allow the games on a mix channel. They allow the games on Red Zone channels.

2. The NFL is the only league that has a sellout based blackout rule. With zero evidence that it does anything more than get local businesses to buy the remaining tickets.

3. It isn't even the NFL's rule. They were forced into it by the government. Their rule was no local television of home games. I'd bet that would still be the rule if they weren't forced to change back in the 1970s (?).

4. The NFL is responsible for diluting an already diluted Florida football market with expansion to also failing attendance wise Jacksonville.

Sunday Ticket is the Fox and CBS broadcasters. Red Zone is live lookins with added commentary from Andrew Siciliano introducing changes from game to game and other info.

I just heard on the radio last Friday that the CHEAPEST seats for a NFL game vary between somewhere around $60 for the less popular franchises to about $110-$120 for the big ones. Taking your family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 kids) to a game in the CHEAP markets will cost about $400, which includes parking (which can cost as much as $50), 2 beers, 2 soft drinks, and 4 hot dogs.

$400! Let alone going to a Dallas Cowboys game, where it will probably cost you about $600 to take the same family. (with $480 of that being tickets)

I'm not surprised that 1), they loosened the rules, and 2) they are STILL not able to sell out a stadium. The economy may be growing, but not growing at the rate that everyone can just shell out that kind of money to take the family to a ball game.

Parking at the Anaheim Angels costs $8. (the owner wants to keep it accessible for every budget, it cost more at the Anaheim Ducks where parking is $25 for a hockey game), and the cheapest tickets go for about $18. A day at the ball game with a family of 4 is going to run you about $100-$120, and the Angels are a pretty good franchise.

Of course there are 162 or so baseball games in a season, and about half of those are home games, so they have a lot more opportunity to make money, where with NFL there is only 8 home games. (9 if you are incredibly lucky and weather forces one of the last games to the opposing city).

I do have to admit I'm not a big sports fan, but I can't think of another major sport that has so few games. In the regular season, each team plays at home 8 times. It's hard to compare to other sports in that regard. Baseball has 81 home games, 41 in Basketball and Hockey.

And I've heard of some really stupid MLB blackout rules, like classic games being blacked out, or analyst talk shows. Not to mention cities that can be in blackout territory for up to 6 teams.

I find it hard to believe they can't create a GM channel whereas I get the Bucs game and the Tampa fans don't.

As others pointed out the Bucs are still on the RZ channel and since there was only 3 games yesterday they were on the RZ a lot.

At the very least switch out the Redskins win for something else, maybe the NFL network or post game interviews...

Normally if a game is on one of your local channels the message comes up immediately on the ST channel telling you it's blocked on ST but you can view it on your local channel. Surprised the hell out of me seeing how it didn't happen until well into the first quarter. I have noticed different announcers on Red Zone. Ya gotta love those pesky blackout rules.

I agree. Waiting until a commercial break would be nice. However, there was about a 10 minute difference between the end of the early game and the enforcement of the blackout and there was at least one (or possibly two - can't recall) commercial break.

I was only able to notice since I was watching multiple games at the same time.

Some kind of notification would be great. I don't remember the announcers mentioning it, but something along the lines of, "We welcome those who just watched the conclusion of the Redskins, Saints game..." would be helpful in signaling viewers to switch from the ST channel to their local feed on the next commercial break.

I have noticed different announcers on Red Zone.

The redzone game feed is the network broadcast so the announcers are not different.
