Friends of mine have been having an issue with losing their picture periodically on both TVs. I looked at their settings and the dish was set to round, but the actual dish is slimline 3. This was the case on both of their boxes which are SD. I changed the setting to the proper dish.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if this could be why their picture was going out? I think I exausted all other options for them to not have to make a service call.

It's a non SWiM setup 8 output multiswitch with HD equipment on the same switch without issues. (multiple residence)

The proper dish setting affects reception of guide data as well as ability to receive the proper channels. That could contribute to the problems they were having. Let us know if the problem returns.

Unless they subscribe to a relatively low-end package, they shouldn't be saddled with an SL3. SD programming in an environment with HD equipment should have an SL5 dish so that they can take advantage of the SD content at 119W.

Since the D12 can only see 101W from an SL3 anyway, it seems like "round" should be fine.

Until they move all of the English language content off of 119W (especially Sonic Tap), those with a SL3 chance being shorted on content that they've ostensibly paid for.

I understand that but all orders are setup with SL3, SWM3, or 18" LNBs unless they require 5 for locals or spanish channesl. Only a handful of people actually care or even know they are missing a few music channels.

Thanks. I thought maybe it had something to do with the multiswitch where there are 4 lines coming from the dish instead of 2 on the round dish.

It's a 2 family house with HD equipment already installed in the other apartment.

I personally would rather have a SL3 than a SL5.
