Daisy Chain HR21 with PC?

I apologize in advance as I assume this has already been asked, but I did a search in all the networking threads and I couldn't find anything. I assume I'm just not searching for the right stuff, but I gave up.

I just got a HR21-200. It's in the same room as a PC. However, my router is not local to that PC and therefore all that is in that room for networking is a run of e-net cable connecting the PC to the router.

I don't think this will work but I figured it was worth asking. Since the HR21's are capable of being daisy-chained on the e-net ports would it be possible to daisy chain the HR21 in between the router and the PC? Simply put, would this setup work?

Modem----router-----HR21-----PC

I don't have a way to run a second line to that room and I'm out of space on the router for another wired line anyway, so needless to say I'm trying to figure out how to network the HR21 without buying a WGA or the like.

I think it should work.

IIRC, the second port is just a pass through.

I could be wrong but it's worth a try.

I beleive you would need a line from the HR to the router so the router can do its job. The router needs to "route" the data to the device requesting it.

The daisy chaining capability will handle that. It is equivalent to having an ethernet switch or hub.
Thanks Bob, I always though each device needed its own path to the router, unshared.
Thanks guys, that's all the motivation I need to try it. I'll go make up a cable and see if it works. Stay tuned....

Good call guys, it works! I ran a speed test and I'm hitting all my usual numbers, so it looks good.

We'll see how it effects the PC when I start downloading some On Demand stuff but I'm guessing that will be no different than any of the others on the network. :)
I did the same thing with my SlingBox and my R22, the only bad thing I noticed is that the SlingBox goes offline while the R22 is rebooting.
A wired network should be fast enough that your broadband connection won't impact it significantly. The same could not be said of slower wireless networks.

Unless you're doing some major networking within the home, you'll never notice.

Yeah, I noticed that too. When I ran the CE last Friday my PC's connection dropped out for a couple seconds during the reboot.
I'm thinking about trying this....

Blu-Ray->HR21->HR21->router....
