As the two companies continue to push their proposed $26 billion merger in Washington, D.C., EchoStar and DirecTV also are approaching folks on the state level about what they call the merits of their pending combination.
Today, in Nashville, Tenn., State Commissioner of Economic and Community Development Tony Grande will host a demonstration detailing how the proposed merger will deliver all local TV markets and affordable satellite broadband services. On Thursday, Pennsylvania State Sen. Jake Corman will host a conference in State College detailing the same points of the merger, which will be delivered during a meeting at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
Last week, John C. Mahaney, president of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, hosted a similar meeting at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Other meetings on the state level have been held in the past, sometimes hosted by a state-level lawmaker or leaders in the local business community.
