Charlie Ergen, CEO of Dish Network, has said that if the merger would occur that the two way internet access by satellite would probably be half price ($35 vs. $70 a month) for the access. This would be wonderful news, and I am sure they could come up with a program for leasing the hardware as well since it is very expensive. If they could get this rolling they could have cheaper equipment and smaller dishes to bring this techonology forward, or possibly use existing dishes to do this on the small dish. I think there are a lot of advancements in the two way internet by satellite that could be made if enough people would subscribe to the service and if this merger would go through.

Seeing that Dish has no stakes in Starband I do not know if Starband would merge with Directv's two way internet service.
