If I deactivate an owned box for a few months, do I need to go through the Access Card Department to be sure it's deactivated and reactivated properly? Not sure it's worth doing, or just continue paying for it, but at least want to know my options. I don't want it to end up getting reactivated as leased or anything.

Nope, just a regular CSR. Just dont reactivate it on a Saturday when their systems are updating. They lost my DVR service last time I reactivated mine.
