Trickplay is the rewind, fast forward, skip 30 seconds features that the HD DVR uses.

These "trickplay" features also exist on other DVRs, including the older Tivo-based DirecTV DVRs and the new HiDef and Standard Definition DVRs.
This is true, but trickplay is a term used in new documentation for DirecTV designed DVR's.
The term trickplay has been around for a while.
Glad someone asked what this word TRICKPLAY meant.. I was just about to ask, too!
Well, to resurrect a 1 year old thread... :p

I wondered about "Trickplay" as well. I see it pertains to what I've always know as "Transport" features (FF, REW, PAUSE, SKIP, etc.). I guess that's correct, correct?

Never heard of Trickplay before but I am a recent satellite convert (excepting 1 year with D* back in 1997). :D
Well, hey! That was my 100th post as well!

Whoops, make that 101 now (only took 3 1/2 years)! :D
