I have had my HR34 for only 4 days now, but it is my understanding there are some bugs still being worked out with the HR34, but it is getting better with each update. Hopefully your problem was only a one time thing. I have seen a few small things with my HR34 in the 4 days I have had it that I had never seen with my HR24 but no big problems.

Hopefully someone that has had the HR34 longer than I have will answer your question.

Was it really the middle of the recording or just the middle of the show? In other words, did your DVR record the whole thing? I bet it asked if you wanted to delete because for some reason it stopped recording in the middle of the show.

This can be a symptom of weak or intermittent satellite reception. How are your signal readings?

the program didn't say partial, and the bar was full, and this don't happen to all programs that's why i thinking it's might be the hard drive, i even ran system test and it can ok

What about the other satellites?
No, that won't ruin the hard drive.

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)

Did the program play all right after going past the dialog? Is it repeatable? What's its status now?

And since the HD is spinning all the time, it's hard to see how pausing and restarting would harm it.

I did not see that anyone mentioned a reset of the receiver to see if that would fix it. It fixes lots of irritation things.
Menu, Settings, Reset, choose the first one on the list to reset the receiver.

The second one changes some of your settings .

The third choice erases all settings and deletes any recordings you have.

I put those last 2 so you would know not to choose those.
They would be a last resort if all else failed.
Even doing the extreme one does not say it would fix it.

Example of settings would be the choices for Native on or off, resolutions, favorite channels, etc.

I always do a reset after new software is installed, the same as I do with my PCs.
