In the last few weeks I've had several blank recordings. The system test reports error code 0x43 on tuner 1. The signal strength is good and similar on both tuners. To rule out cabling problems I have switched the cables around and the problem stays on T1. So if the problem is not the cabling I think the issue could be the receiver (hr20-700) or the LNB (slimline 5). Both have been installed 4.5 years ago.

I have a spare LNB sitting around so I could try to switch that out but, before I start climbing up ladders, I thought to ask here to see if anyone has a guess on what is the most likely culprit is.

Additional info: single receiver, 125ft good quality coax to the dish. Thank you guys and galls.

Have you checked the signal strength on ALL satellites? If you are recording HD content and only checking the 101 satellite, you are NOT looking at any HD satellites. Check all satellites-you might be surprised.

Yup. All sats are fine. A lot of blank recording were on HD locals with a 97% or above signal.

Diagnostic Code 43
OSD - "Satellite Dish Alignment Problem

Your satellite dish may need a pointing adjustment that might be causing searching for satellite signal issues. Please check whether trees or leaves are blocking the satellite signal to your dish or if you have snow or ice on the dish. If it is raining or snowing, please repeat this test when the weather clears. If you continue to experience searching for satellite signal messages please call customer service at 1-800-531-5000 and report the diagnostic code displayed above.
Diagnostic Code: 43"
Cause
An obstruction (new construction, tree growth, etc.) may be interfering with the dish's line-of-sight.
Severe wind, rain, or snow is occurring.
The dish may need realigning.

Troubleshooting
Verify that nothing is obstructing the dish (new construction, tree growth, etc).
Remove any obstructions, if possible.
Verify that the area isn't experiencing severe weather.
Advise customers to wait for the weather to clear if it is.
Disconnect and reconnect both SAT-INs at the back of the receiver (wall plate as well, if applicable).
Check that the cables are securely connected; not loose, frayed, or worn.
If the center wire is bent, straighten it before reinserting.
If there're BBCs connected, make sure their connections are tight and secure as well. The BBC or lack of a BBC is not the issue in this case. However, a loose cable to or from the BBC may be. Check that the connections to the BBC(s) are secure and tight. Rerun the system test.
If diagnostic code 43 still displays: Get a service call.
