Just curious to see if the latest upgrade solved anyone's lockup issues? It didn't solve mine. I'm on the phone now with D* and they think that I have a bad box. What a joke? There sending my a 3rd replacement box now. This has actually gone from really frustrating to just down right hilarious. I can't even take them serious at this point. Just send me a new one of these POS and I'll try my luck with that. I've never seen anything so pathetic in my life. They don't have a clue.

I feel your pain, I am on my 3rd box as well. Not to jinx myself, but this box is like night and day over the previous two. Hope your 3rd one is the charm too.

Get ready for possible personal attacks, after all, you used the "POS" acronym. Someone will likely take it personally.

What do they say, the third HR20 is a charm? Just kidding. You know my feelings about this product launch. Seems to me that if they fixed the freezing/partial recording/missed recording bugs, they would have been prominently displayed in the release notes. I didn't see them.

Mine isn't locking up now, but I am going to reconnect my HDMI after this download, just for kicks. Component ended my lock-ups, it seems, but I know it's not a solution for others.

This morning I Googled the HR20 and visited several sites where people checked in with their impressions so far. All self-selected samples, of course. For every one good/great review, there are 5 negative ones. Sure, the downloads keeping coming, but the process just has a sort of surreal quality, as if D* isn't sure when they will get to the promised land, if at all. The one good thing to say is they keep trying. Not much solace to someone who is going on their 3rd or 4th box.

People who have long-term negative experiences with the R15 keep pointing to it as precedent. I never got one, but if HR20 subs/users are still suffering from the same major issues a year from now, it won't be pretty.

I got the update last night and I had a sound issue on my local NBC MPEG-4 station this AM. I was watching the today show, live, and had the 'my playlist' screen up so the video was in the little window and suddenly the sound stopped but the picture was OK. I changed channel back and forth and it fixed itself.

I'm not too worried about personal attacks. I'll call this thing a POS until they finally send me one that works. If other people are having better luck, I'm happy for them. My opinion is based 100% on my experience with this thing over the last month. I think it's a joke and I can't believe that there are people in a company as big as D* that would have allowed this POS to be rolled out with all it's bugs. I'm done with the forums for awhile until I get my new box and hopefully have something positive to report. I'm out.

Don't blame you. Enough mental masturbation already. I may check out too. Getting bored with the back and forth, and actually going nowhere. Hope it works out. Leave the forums to those who want to discuss 1s and 0s, etc. I just want mine to continue to work, but I haven't gotten the new download yet. So who knows?

My update went through morning at 2:47am. The wife hasn't reported any lockups (yet), but as another pointed out, I think it's too soon to tell.

But I can tell you this - I am going to call D* the instant it locks up because they told me it would be fixed in a software update and gave me a whopping $5/mo off for 6 months. If this one locks up, they are going to have to majorly up the ante.

I refuse to let them talk me into a new (read: refurbed) unit. It's software problems, not hardware. I truly believe that.

So, I will report back if/when it locks up post-0xEB update.

Now, back to your OP.

Was the system locked up when you returned to the unit?
Did it lock up just during payback?
Where you doing some sort of trick-play with the program?
Setting up a recording? Prioritizer?
Where you watching MPEG-4, MPEG-2 HD, or MPEG-2 SD?

Do you have the B-Band converters connected?
One or two SAT feeds?
HDMI Connection?
RF/IR usage for the remote?

(basically I am rattling off our most common questions, to help figure out why your system is locking up... since you have now been through 2, and have a 3rd on the way).

I'm really suprised by how many people are having major problems. I haven't had any real major problems. I don't believe I've had a single lockup since I've had this unit. Nothing auto deleted etc, no partial recordings.

About the only real kind of major issue that I can recall was some recordings getting "stuck" about a minute in, but I was able to ffw or slip past that and then rewind to that point....

I'm not a power user though. I usually have 50-70% free space.
