I am curious, when your HR22 was installed, did you get the RF Remote with the backlit keys or a standard IR remote? Someone mentioned in another thread that they received the RF remote and I received the IR. So if most of you received RF remotes, I plan to call D* to request replacements.

mine came with an rf remote, but does not have backlit keys. model #rc64r. bought it at costco.
Thanks for the feedback, I received the RC64R remote, but didn't realize it was RF. On the D* website, the RF is backlit and the IR is not, so I thought my was only IR.

RC 64 = Standard IR remote, no RF (included with all but the HR2x receivers)
RC 64R = IR & RF remote, no backlight (included with the HR2x receivers)
RC 64RB = IR & RF & Backlight. (not included AFAIK with any receivers, needs to be ordered seperately)

Thanks for clarifying the model numbers. Sounds like I received the remote that was supposed to come with the HR22. Just wish it was backlit.

Well since DirecTV sells the RC64RB on the DirecTV website for$25.+tax shipping is included in the price.I bought one.;)

The RC64RB also has a switch on the right side you can turn the back lights on or off.:)

My harmony is backlit and works fine with my HR22
Yes, my Harmony is backlit as well and so is my One-For-All. Just wish my D* supplied remotes were, even though I don't use them much. I actually like the layout of the D* remote. If I could figure out how to ge it to turn on all 3 of my devices with the touch of 1 button, I would actually use them more. You can press "On" to turn on the DVR and TV, but it doesn't turn on my home theater.

Yeah - it must be a big sweat to push one more button, I'd be out of breath after that -
- I can see that's a good reason to run out and buy a $100 remote

Hey, little things can turn in to big annoyances. If the poster has his setup for two years, he's paying about $1.25 per day for the extra button push. That may be worth it for him.

Actually its 3 more buttons, so that is a lot more work. Press "On" to turn on tv and DVR, slide it to AV1 and then press power to turn on home theater, then slide it back to D* setting to control everything. Needless to say, I use my Harmony instead. FYI, the Harmony remote was free when I ordered my Plasma TV.

Just bustin' them - I don't mean any harm, kidding, joking, having some fun - I apologize if I offended you -
No problem. Actually, having to do the steps I mentioned does result in me not using the D* remote. My wife doesn't mind listening to the sound through the TV speakers, so she uses the D* remote and it works fine for her.

Price of remote: $100. Value of never having to explain to the wife how to play a CD or how to watch TV? Priceless.
