Direct says no AM-21 for HR22 for now

You can order it online at DIRECTV's site for $50. If you have an HR21 or HR22 in your current setup (Follow "My Setup" tab to "Current Setup"). You should see a link for the AM-21 "Kits & Equipment" under "Shop DIRECTV" on the right of the screen.

Incidentally, I recently had a free upgrade from an HR10-250 to an HR21-100 and I got a CSR who had never heard of the AM21. I walked her through how to find it on the web site and she was able to order one for me free of charge.

I also have one on my HR22-100 and it works fine. FYI Perhaps what the CSR meant is that the ordering system is down?

She might be telling the truth, they didn't sell me one - they gave it to me for free.

They tried to give me that line as well. Just tell them you need subchannels or PBS-HD.

Yup, for most it is not a lie to say you want PBS-HD.

In fact that is the main reason I ended up finally calling in and ordering an AM21, that and subchannels

That CSR is incorrect.

Just got a new HR21-700. We do not have HD locals here yet. Will D* give me a AM-21 free of charge?

They did for me this past week and it took 40 minutes on the phone. Depending on your patience it may be less hassle to just pay the $50. Exact same reciever as you.

Most likely, just call in and ask about the OTA (over the air) tuner for receiving your locals in HD since Directv does not carry them. They will probably come back saying it is $50, just ask if they have any deals they could do on that. If they do, they do, if they dont, they dont. It is an account by account basis whether they can give you a deal or not.

Took me 20minutes, then waited a week and nothing happened, so I called in and had to get thrown around for awhile and finally got another one ordered after 45minutes! :eek2:
