I just brought my retirement house in Tenn.; I currently live in Chicago area. I will be moving down to Tenn. in several years. Is there any why that DIRECTV will wire my house in Tenn. and allow me to bring my receiver from Chicago to Tenn.? I will only visiting Tenn. several times a year until I can fully retire and move there full time

Not necessarily in this situation. The OP makes this sound like this is more of a snowbird thing. If you want to move your receivers back and forth you can do that with one account. Tons of customers do this.

As long as you take all receivers to the other address you should be able to go through the Mover's program so they'll wire your Tennessee address and then you just go back and forth from then on, and call to have your address updated for locals each time.

What is not allowed is having multiple receivers active at multiple addresses on one account at the same time.

As long as he does not have receivers active at both addresses at the same time, the same rules apply.

Although with going back and forth several times a year I would highly recommend the OP takes the protection plan! Especially if he has a DVR.

JBv is right on. We did that for almost 2 years before moving permanently to the second home. We did it often and never had a problem with calling in to change the locals. Movers connection set us up in the second home.

If you do that then you can get CSN chicago, WGN 9, WCIU, the bears games and more.

I just set this up. I have a vacation house that I frequent often.

Here is the problem that I've run into. It is a huge pain to get them to "switch" service. Each time I've done it, I've had to stay on the phone while they figure it out. When the switch is made, I had all sorts of issues. The receivers at my primary residence changed their locals to the address of my vacation home. So all of my recordings (on local channels) failed.

It has been a huge pain, but it is cheaper than having separate service.

Sounds like you're trying to simultaneously keep receivers at both locations. You can't maintain service at both locations under one account. So when you call in to change, all receivers are going to change to that 'new' location.

That isn't really my end goal. DTV told me that when I am at the vacation home the receivers at my primary are disabled. That is what I was expecting.
Also, it has been a huge pain each time I call.
A couple of weeks ago I called when I was leaving my vacation home to switch back to my primary. My mistake was telling the person on the phone that I was calling from my vacation home. I wanted to call before I left so that the receivers at my primary could record something while I was in transit. The person on the phone refused to do it until I was physically at my primary.
BTW...I have dedicated receivers for each location. I don't move any.
It is great that DTV allows you to do this, but it is a chore to switch.
