When the new Sat is fired up will there be any new SD local channels? I live in DMA 167 (Missoula, MT) and am hoping for locals. I am basing my hope on the D* call center here in town.
I seriously doubt that they'll put much of a priority of adding SD locals to the smaller DMAs with no locals at all when adding HD locals to the larger DMAs will end up making them much more money. The only reason why they would even bother with the smaller DMAs is because the government's forcing them to, but theres no timeline on it so who's to say it wont be 2020 before the smaller DMAs get their locals?
In their filings with the FCC, first to have News as a major shareholder, then last year to have Liberty become the major shareholder, DIRECTV committed to adding more SD DMAs this year.
So both HD and SD are coming to more markets. Woohoo!
Cheers,
Tom
