I am curious to know when Directv will announce their olympic coverage for 2012. This is my first Olympics with Directv, and I am curious to know specifically if they will have the Basketball and Soccer Olympic channels, and if they will have a channel with a mosaic of whats going on.

There's even a Panasonic viewing theater on site introducing fans to a three-dimensional view of the Games.
Yes, going to the games is a good way to get a 3D view. :D

About half of the events I recorded yesterday using the Olympics App (the one accessed with the red button) were not the events they were supposed to be. Combined with the delayed/extended start times of live events and no way to manage conflicts or alter start/end times in the app, it is not as useful as it should be.

Funny thing about all this fuzziness on scheduling. The Washington Post lists almost in minute detail what is on when. Instead of just a list of sports, they list approximate times for each event.

Why do they have that and the NBC apps don't?

The problem is that NBC isn't sticking with their own schedule. A good portion of today's daytime coverage on NBC was nowhere close to their online schedule. A volleyball match that was supposed to be in the daytime block was nowhere to be found, and there was a beach volleyball match (that was supposed to be in prime time) and a women's canoeing event (supposed to be in late night) instead. I've noticed similar issues at various points earlier in these Olympics, and NBC always manages to fix their online schedule to show what actually was shown - AFTER the coverage is over! If it were possible to go back in time and set a recording in response to the schedule change...

My only major complaint with NBC's Olympic coverage is that they make it so painfully hard to find the events you actually want to watch.

HEADS UP - Anyone out west with recordings set on NBC tomorrow or Sunday may want to make adjustments. Quoting from the thread in the TV Show Talk forum:

***SPECIAL OLYMPIC PROGRAMMING NOTE: NBC's Daytime weekend coverage LIVE to all time zones. Sat: 9a-6p ET, 8a-5p CT, 7a-4p MT, 6a-3p PT

Sunday's Olympic coverage live to all time zones: 6a-6p ET, 5a-5p CT, 4a-4p MT, 3a-6p PT. Sat features Serena-Sharapova gold medal match

Certainly should please some folks on the West coast, I'd imagine. Not sure why they only came to this decision now, but it's the right one.
This is not (yet) reflected in the on-screen guide, nor is it reflected in the online schedule.
