·DirecTV's next satellite launch could be 20 days away.
The Arianespace flight for DirecTV-4S - a spot-beam bird that will help the company with its local TV offerings, including must-carry mandates for local TV - is set for between Nov. 26 and Nov. 27. As with all rocket launches, dates and times are subject to change. But according to a company spokesperson, lift-off is still scheduled for the last week of the month.
An Ariane 44LP will orbit DirecTV-4S, which was built by Boeing Satellite Systems for the satellite TV company. The launch will take place at Arianespace's facility in South America.
After DirecTV-4S, the DirecTV 5 satellite is next for liftoff. DirecTV doesn't expect to launch the bird prior to January 2002. DirecTV 5's flight will take place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
