So I finally got a smartphone and decided to install the DirecTV app I'd been blasted with in ads every time I visit DIRECTV.COM.

Pretty nice, I thought until I noticed that most of the channels said "not subscribed to in your package". WHAT? My locals??? With Choice Xtra Classic??

Then it dawned on me. The channels listed had the HD logo next to them and I DON'T HAVE DIRECTV HD (and don't plan on it anytime soon as upgrading would lock me in for 2 years).

So other than a smart alec answer like "upgrade to DirecTV HD", is there any other setting or option to convert the app to SD channels so I can schedule recordings on my DVR's??

go to the settings screen on your phone when in the app, you have the ability to show all channels, or channels I get etc..from there. Will get you closer to what you want.
I'll check it out!

If you talking about watching DirecTv streaming shows on your phone the only ones available are for Premium channels and Audience Channel I believe. You won't get steaming of Local shows if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, I figured that out. And I tried to stream a show from "Audience Network" and it said "stream not available". What a joke advertising this app as being "able to take your shows with you". For a good laugh, you should read the reviews section on Google Play for this app.

On a brighter note, I did figure out that the settings menu lets you unhide SD channels. And by also clicking on "channels I get" I basically hide all the HD channels (which I don't get) fixing my channels problem.

It is a nice app for scanning the program guide and remotely scheduling shows on your DVR-and that's ALL it's good for.

I like to use it to randomly change the channels when my wife is at home watching TV and I'm at work.
I didn't think the Directv app changed channels. I know there are remote apps that will. I use one on my Android phone but it has to be connected to my home wifi network.

I imagine if you remotely schedule two shows to record and tell it to "definitely record" the DVR just magically obeys the command-even if someone is watching it because it just assumes the user forgot to turn it off.

If there is a conflict, there will be a popup asking if it is OK to change channels. If you don't say no, the channel will change.

It's what trh said he was doing. I know you can't remotely change channels with this app since it is not a remote control. It will remotely schedule recordings. I use it for that purpose all the time. But a channel changer..I doubt it.

What if you ignore the popup? Will it change channels after a certain time period elapses (normally 5 minutes)?
