Directv at the Lake

The lady of the house asked why I did not set up Directv at the lake. Well I said that there are just to many trees. She said, well I know you can do it. :sure:

I took an old Phase II dish that I had upgraded to a Phase III with the center 110 LNB. I removed the LNBs and put the 101 in the center position. Mounted the arm on a 1"x12"x4', got some coax at the electrical supply store, packed the compression connectors and tools and was off to the lake with an H20 and D11. I got a small compass and worked for about 20 minutes trying to find a spot to set the dish. I finally found a possible site. Hooked it up to the H20 and small 14 inch LCD tv and started to see what I could get. Lo and behold the TV gave out a loud signal. The two concrete blocks hold it very firmly.

And she said "I knew you could do it" :D

Let this serve as a tribute to those of us who search for a new residence with a compass in our hand!

My real estate agent thought I was a lunatic, turning down properties before I even went inside based on a compass reading.

Just goes to show how little people understand about proper priorities!:D

Nice work! :biggthump
It is not pretty but it works great. No one should be scared of working with this stuff unless they do not know how to use a screwdriver.

The cable inputs are at the end of the trailer (the one on the left) so I had to run two 50' cable runs. This does not seem to be a problem. The whole set up can be picked up and stored in just a few minutes. Since I do not go there in the winter months, I will probably take it in during the winter.
Nice job! Amazing how much you miss your D* when it is not around......
should just put in a pole, now that you know where.. you can always just slip it off for the winter..

Just renting the space. That retaining wall is not holding up to well so a permanent pole is kind of out of the question. Who knows all those trees may be bigger next year, so I will have to be mobile.

Here's another method that may work for you. DBS pole installation
