Ive heard alot of talk about Directv buying out all of its HSP installers and doing their own thing.Ive also heard mixed stories about the transfer of employees,,some good and some bad.I heard they recently bough out Bruister and Assoc, and most of their employees got fired.I work with Mastec in central florida and im sure we are next ,if not in the near future, and id like to know what to expect. so if anyone has been involved in the buy outs and can give me some helpfull info id appreciate it,,,

I just had an installer at my home who was with Ironwood. He said that they were bought out by Directv recently. The changes, he said, so far, were good. Better benefits and they were now being allowed to take their time with installs vs. the "hit and run" approach that they were forced to do under Ironwood. He said that Directv has told them they are more interested in an installer taking his time and doing it right the first time. They wanted to cut down on a lot of the "piece work" as he called it - as in call backs. He did say it was early in the transition but so far they were pretty happy with Directv as their direct employer.

I dropped D* 5 years ago because their 3rd party installers did not want to spend the time finding a new place for my dish for the HD channels.
I came back 5 weeks ago and the D* employeed installers spent 8 hours hooking me up. They were OUTSTANDING!!!

Mastec here in Maryland sucks, I'd love to see DirecTV buy them and fire everyone

Yes just leave everyone jobless in todays economy because you don't like them, what a humanitarian.
Of course you're right, leave all the idiots employed who cant do the job, who triple costs due to the work having to be repeated by someone more qualified. The same ones who have made pay increases a mostly level across the board thing since they sued employers into fear of showing true appreciation for a hard worker.

Absolutely. Too bad others think a solution is to fire everyone and start from scratch. That would only make matters worse.
I vote for DTV buying all the HSP's and FIRING EVERYONE!!!!!!! Every one of the Supervisors that is. OK, they can keep a few of the better ones. They need someone to sweep the warehouse floor........:hurah:

Yup,
The bleeding has stopped. The pain is lessened. Scars have formed. I am still not ready to go back to MASTEC. But I read that DTV bought Ironwood and they have a yard in mid DE. Might go knock on their door.

When you apply to work for DTV on line, MASTEC will call you here in MD.

Almost the same story my installer told me here in Colorado Springs a few weeks ago.

After spending 4 months as an installation support CSR for DTV, I can say that Bruister was the biggest offender for missed/botched installations.

DTV had to spend a fortune cleaning up after them.

Good riddence!

They are back!

I saw an ad. They are now called something like Home Service South West.
All the Bruister offices............contents unknown.
