The Symptoms:
On 1/5/12, tomspeer46 posted that his HD LILs were supposed to be on TPN 6 - but that TPN showed a signal strength of zero. Something is really wrong here! That triggered a whole lot of head scratching, homework and investigation. All by folks much smarter than I.

The Discovery:
We have had errors of TPN assignments for Spaceway-1 LIL channels for some period of months now. This problem affected SW-1 only. Those errors are corrected in today's 1/18/12 TPN Map update.

I'm working to assemble a logical, readable post of what is changing technically.

An Important Plea:
It was the tomspeer46 post that brought this inconsistency to the surface and triggered the research. We very much need that kind of monitoring and feedback to keep this data accurate and valuable. There are constant changes continually impacting us. Please take the time to validate the data that applies to you and then share any problems that you discover.
There is some thought http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2944140#post2944140

These are the markets impacted with changes in the Spaceway TPNs carrying their HD locals.

NET|MKT|2012 DMA|ACTIVATED|DMA NAME

715|204|142|2010/10/27|Wichita Falls, TX-Lawton, OK

If these are your home Networks/DMAs, please do a sanity check comparing the TPN data and your signal strength display. There should be a valid correlation of very high signal strength on these TPNs.

If you find a problem, PLEASE speak up!

Thanks!

Well, on second thought ... perhaps I should take back my suggestion about D12 as a source of the 19.85[0670] GHz twelve transponders, because of its 'uneven' IF = 1,800,670; all D12 IFs has last three KHz numbers as 000, like tp8 1,840,000.

That is SO weird...

It's not unusual for WPGA (an SD channel) to show up since Macon, GA is an MPEG4 only market, but...

To my knowledge, WTLF is SD only as well, and already offered in SD on DirecTV 7s.

Perhaps DirecTV is duplicating WTLF on SW1 so they can use the 3 LNB dish instead of the 5 LNB dish in Tallahassee and still allow their subscribers access to all the locals.

Unless WTLF has got an HD cable only feed their supplying to DIRECTV or something.

Other than that, you're right it doesn't really make sense outside of a plan to move WTLF off SD MPEG-2/Ku-band on 119W to SD MPEG-4/Ka-band on 103W for some reason.

Last I heard, The CW is not providing HD yet for CW Plus stations, so unless things have changed, it won't be HD.

I've corresponded, and if memory serves, spoke on the phone with one of the engineers for WTLF, so I may e-mail him and ask him about it.

This is just an update for the OTA section for Rochester, NY #672 - for WROC there is now an 8.2 sub-channel - Bounce TV - not sure if I should report that here, or elsewhere...
nusatman,

There is an entire thread dedicated to OTA discussion. In particular, this post, within that thread http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2953492#post2953492

will (unhappily) answer all your questions....

The TPN Map Excel has been updated and now reflects data of 2/16/12.

The LIL Market List tab has been updated to reflect the recent announcement of the 2012 Launch of HD Locals for 17 new DMAs.

Historically, the D5 sat has carried 13 CONUS channels and about 26 LIL channels.

But a significant change came about last week. And this week, D5 shows up carrying only 26 "Addressable Advertisement Push" channels. The channels all show up in the LIL data section, assigned to Network 624 (Los Angeles).

Get prepared. You can expect that you will soon have customized, DMA-specific advertising jammed down your throat. Ultimately, based on the customer demographics they have (or will have) those advertisements may become very very specifically targeted.

I am guessing that PBS HD will be a mirror feed (virtual) of WMAV from the Memphis market. Also, why is WKDH on 43 and not 45? Not a big deal, I am just ready for the channels to be in HD on the bird. I have survived with OTA.

I notice that they have CW as channel 5, does WCBI provide a HD feed of the CW for cable? I know on OTA it is 4.3 and in SD only.
