Didn't see another thread on this, apologize if there is one but, has anyone else heard of this potential new package supposedly available next month? Found this on the other forum...I would be potentially interested in this if it happens.

My parents would desperately like to save on their basic package. Of course it figures the one channel they can't go without is their RSN, for Minnesota Twins baseball. As far as I can tell, it's not included below "Choice Extra". Maybe they can downgrade to the new "Entertainment" package between October and March.

Doesn't DirecTv charge you for downgrading your package?

They don't care too much about making changes up or down on your core programming, they just charge you if you cancel a premium channel (HBO, Showtime, etc) within 30 days of adding. That's to keep folks from using those particular channels like ppv's.

I have Dish AT200 and it has History channel in HD. I watch Pawn Stars regularly. Last I looked the History channel was in AT120 also...
You're right, I missed it. The list was mostly alphabetical, except where it was listed. I'll have to take a close look at it when it is offered, it may work for me. The bigger question, will it work for my wife without Fox Sports Cincinnati.

What are the "four FREE Advanced Product Upgrades?"
That would refer to either upgrading from SD receivers to HD receivers, or from non-recording receivers to DVRs. Of course, subscribers in good standing can often get such upgrades for free anyway, but I guess DirecTV is "formalizing" the offer for people subscribing to the Entertainment package. (I'm sure it doesn't hurt that they may get additional monthly DVR fees and/or monthly HD fees from some people.)

The word is that the channel lineup will not be released tell it is available for purchase. They don't want people calling and asking for it before the package is available to purchase.

please forgive my ignorance on the issue, but why exactly is everyone so excited about this plan? is it because it will be the cheapest plan?
Actually, Family is the cheapest plan. Interested perhaps because it is replacing the SELECT package, which at $44.95, was a very good package for those on a budget.
