Went to the website, confirmed to be true, 2nd year is the same low price as the first.

Always thought that was a bad business decision in getting rid of that, especially since all competitors were doing a first 2 year price lock ( Dish is now a 3 year lock).

That second year was causing major shock for maybe new subscribers.

The fees are still a issue, but this is still a step in the right direction.

Asking long-term subscribers to double their subsidy of new customers has its own level of pain.

That said, it may be the only way that DIRECTV can sustain itself which is critical to all of its subscribers.

There is pain relief.

The question is how much harder to get that relief might become as all "new" subscribers are being given an additional $600 in discounts (give or take and not including those qualifying for the $300 switcher bonus) on top of the Subscriber Acquisition Cost.

Discounts and promotions take away from revenues which is what pays the bills and chips away at the debt.
