Tribune television stations in 16 markets across the country, including WGN in Chicago, are threatening to cut off programming to millions of DirecTV subscribers after negotiations over retransmission fees broke down Monday.

The contract is set to expire March 31 and Tribune Co. is seeking compensation from the satellite TV provider to carry its programming, something it does not receive. Without resolution, the plug will be pulled Saturday at midnight.**

That would affect my ABC and CW affilliates. I watch nothing on the CW and only 2 shows on ABC that I can get via OTA. So I'm good if they're cut off.

If Directv drops WGN Chicago I will have to move to a different provider. They carry way too many Blackhawks and White Sox games for me to miss out on.

Yep same here;

Though others here in the house don't have AM21s.

Therefore wonder if DIRECTV will offer free or discounts on them if indeed the signal is turned off? :sure:

Awesome. Glad that DirecTV is in enough of a position of power to keep taking the same stance with all these greedy ***** that think that it's up to DirecTV to keep their coffers overflowing. Maybe they should try following DirecTV's example in their own dealings with the things they pay for instead.

The first wgn america game that isn't in MLB Extra Innings won't occur tell April 28.

As long as they are outside the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, White Sox and Blackhawks market, they shouldn't have a problem on the most part using out of market packages to gain access to the games.

It would include our local FOX station...which I can't get via OTA, bummer.
