DIRECTV Likely to Add 5 HD Channels

Washington, D.C. (May 18, 2011) -- DIRECTV is expected to soon add five premium movie channels in High-Definition, probably as early as next week, according to the company's official programming guide.
The June issue of the satcaster's guide, which was just mailed to subscribers, says the following channels will be added next month:
HBO Comedy East -- channel 506
HBO Latino East -- channel 511
MoreMax East -- channel 517
ActionMax East -- channel 519
ThrillerMax -- channel 522
DIRECTV has traditionally added new HD channels on Wednesday mornings so it's likely the five new HD premiums will go up a week from today, the final Wednesday before June.
While the additional HBO/Cinemax HD channels will make subscribers to those premium channels happy, it will likely further upset DIRECTV viewers who are clamoring for the satcaster to add more basic cable channels in high-def, such as AMC HD and BBC America HD.
