This thread, and the links found on this first page was created to provide the latest information on SD and HD local channel availability from DirecTV. The web pages linked below contain the latest local channel information. Updates to local channel availability will be discussed in this thread.

Main page
Contains links to the three big lists, a coverage map, and some other interesting/random statistics.

DirecTV locals channels sorted by:

If you have any suggestions, corrections, updates, etc, please respond to the poll below or e-mail me. The other pages sorted by state and DMA will most likely return eventually when time permits.

Looking good, Alan!

BTW, you might notice that the URL for the LiL lists is "newshawkfiles.info". I have access to server space now, so I'm providing some space to Alan to maintain and update the lists. While I have personal reasons for not taking the lists over myself, I'm happy to give the server space to Alan and the DBSTalk community.

I still have a lot of work to do on the lists!

  • I'm pretty sure the RSN information is somewhat dated.
  • I need to update some of the satellite information as multiple markets have been swapped since this list was last updated, and I haven't fully updated last year's market with their satellite information yet.
  • I need to pretty up certain areas, and make some of it more consistent as well.
  • I need to update the other lists (by market, by state).
  • I need to update the information page as well... which may be one of the next things I tackle.

I'd LOVE to have a map on the first post that is up-to-date (COMING SOON!), but I couldn't alter that one without making a mess. I have something I'm going to add later down the line, but I want to straighten out these lists first...

Yeah... a lot of work that needs to be done, but I wanted to go ahead and get this one that's far more current out now, and continue to update it as I go...

GREAT WORK.
Thank you Alan for taking on this project.
Thank you Newshawk for the GREAT foundation you gave to get this info started.
Thank you Bamaweather for the upgrades your brought. I hope all is well with you and miss your input.

Cool list. I never noticed it had the information about HD local newscasts. I'm gonna check on the South Bend locals tonight to see if the Fox, ABC, and CW have HD broadcasts because I think they all do now.

Also, I wondered about the RSN thing. Maybe you want to specify that some teams aren't available to everyone in the specific DMA? I know that my DMA goes into both Indiana and Michigan. Those in Michigan in the South Bend DMA get Fox Sports Detroit with the Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons as well as CSN Chicago with the Blackhawks and Bulls (No White Sox or Cubs). Those in Indiana get Fox Sports Detroit with the Tigers (No Wings or Pistons), CSN Chicago with all the teams, in addition to Reds games on FSCincinnati.

Thanks for this list. It's excellent. I go to Wiki to check LiL channels, but I like the RSN references in addition to the newscast info that you have.

Are HDLiL's flipped on Wednesday's like their CONUS counterparts usually?
Usually, but not always.
I check every Wednesday.

We get some channels from Cape Girardeau, and their is a CW affiliate from there, but D* doesn't give it to us? We probably don't receive it because it's a subchannel of KFVS 12. I'd imagine you'd qualify for the national CW though because of that.

I'm moving to Jonesboro, AR soon & the CW network is not available here. Will I be able to get the distant network signal?
Thanks.

DirecTV added 3 new HD LILs to Las Vegas:

KINC 15 Univision
KVMY 21 MyTV
KBLR 39 Telemundo
KINC and KBLR went into *TEST on 6/13. KVMY apparently went into *TEST prior to 6/13. A six week stint in TEST status is not so bad.

Interesting change: New HD LILs are coming alive randomly all through the week now. Historically, early Wednesday mornings was the only time when new channels were lit up.

Major affiliation changes are here for independent channels in most Latino markets with the launch of MundoFOX.

Maybe it's time to make a Spanish HD locals list with 5 major networks in that category now (Univision, Telemundo, Telefutura, Azteca America, & MundoFOX).

I've been considering how I want to go about that. Though Univision has been known to get better ratings than NBC, I'd rather keep the main list as is, but I have been planning on doing several things to show their growing popularity.
