DirecTV Mailings

Over the last year, at least once a week, I get a USPS mailing from D* offering all sorts of great stuff at great prices for switching from cable. Ironically, I have been a D* subscriber for over 10 years and have not had cable for over four years (and then it was just for broadband Internet). I have lived at this address for 11 years and it’s addressed to me specifically by name. I just wonder if anyone else is getting this. Is this just some sort of “dumb” mass mailing, or do they actually have my name in their database as a cable subscriber?

I'm curious what these deals are? Any better than those found on the DirecTV website?

I'm right this moment trying to see if I can save a friend some money by him switching to DirecTV. It's looking good except fro the upfront HW costs. He needs 1 standard receiver, 1 HD receiver and 1 HD receiver, and being a cable convert the SWMline.

Actually I have noticed a distinct "uptick" in DirecTV direct mailers and Sunday supplement inserts. I have received no less than 10 in the last 3 weeks or so.
Not at home but I have been getting these at work and we have been a DirecTV business customer since '99. I finally called asking to be taken off the mailing list since it was a waste.
My satellite mailings are not from DirecTV and Dish but third party dealers with their own phone numbers.
Mince are coming from DirecTV. They even come in an envelope that looks like a bill or other official business. That always gets my attention, because I do online account access and my monthly payment is charged to my AMEX card.
