It's an arms length business transaction. Is there anything in any of the terms and services that precludes it? If not, it's not an issue.

I'm not sure what relevance this is to what I posted but DIRECTV has the ability and resources to determine if they will allow it or not.

My comment was he asked about the ethics of doing something and that people already know if something is ethical or not.

The relevance to my comment is obvious. A plain reading of your post indicated a strong inference that it was not ethical (or, at the very least, you do not feel it is ethical). Unless it is contrary to something in the terms and conditions, there simply is no issue. With that said, it is also true that Directv can deal with who they want.

In my profession, ethics is routinely discussed, and often questions arise as to whether something is ethical or not. Contrary to your post, raising those questions does not automatically adjudged something to be unethical.

On the contrary the usual reason for discussions around that doesn't resolve if it's ethical or not but whether conduct is acceptable in terms of relevance to said situation.

I think for me I would ask myself some questions first.

Am I currently under contract?

Do I own any of my equipment or is it all leased and would have to be shipped back?

Do I have an extravagant setup that would be costly to duplicate starting with a new account (additional fees to get the same setup back).

Do I want or need newer equipment?

Do I want a 2 year agreement?

Is there a wait for install now that the NFL season is near?

Do I want free Sunday Ticket this year?
