DIRECTV Orders New Grass Valley Compression Systems To Support Growth in Programming Services

Paris/Nevada City, Calif., November 13, 2006 - DIRECTV, the United States' leading satellite television service provider, has placed an order, valued at nearly $8 million (US) for new Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS) Grass Valley MPEG-2 compression equipment, to significantly expand the capabilities of its broadcast complex.

Well if they just placed the order, I doubt it'll be there soon. This sounds like pretty high end custom equipment. I'm guessing they'll use this to put more channels on the current birds after the new ones go up next year.
