Directv question?

I used in the past had Directv. Well i have dish as well. Now times are tough probably for all and i have Mediacom for digital cable as well as internet ,phone for a bundle servive. But after a year of paying $29.99 for each,the rates went up. And we are paying for close to $140 a month with a hd receiver for my 42" olevia lcd hd. I was thinking of going to qwest for their service of phone,internet,and directv. Is it still worth it? I'd like to know the route. plus anyone have vonage for phone and how dependable are they? IMO, DirecTV is the best TV service available, and is great for HD.

On the other hand, TV, and especially HD & DVRs, are premium services. If money is that tight, you might want to think twice before committing to 2 years of service for a luxury that might be difficult to afford. Just something to consider.

Well i was thinking if it was cheaper to go to qwest route with their bundle service compared to mediacoms? I read awhile back that it was$89 a month for their service and was cheaper than mediacoms.

Beware of 'introductory rates.'

Make sure that $89 isn't limited to 3 or 6 months, and then automatically goes up.

I've had Vonage for 3 years, and have never had a problem with the service. I would recommend then to anyone who has high speed internet service.

Just know that if you are downloading that 3GB movie while on the phone you may have some issues even if you've set up the router to place a higher priority to the VoIP packets.

I live in a Qworst territory and it would be difficult to approach the $140 territory with HD. Qworst wrote the book on taxes and fees.

For pricing through Qwest, just visit their website, select products & services, type in your zip, then select bundle savings. This will allow you to pick what you are interested in and see the pricing before taxes listed on the right.

Just what I was thinking, but be careful of (a) time limits on discounted pricing (usually a year, I think?) for DSL service (b) discounted DSL service can also come with a two-year agreement (c) the price they include for DirecTV needs to be adjusted by you for things like additional receiver charges, etc.

You must take into consideration that the taxes and fees are substantial. My old POTs line cost me almost half again the advertised rate after taxes and fees. To add insult to injury, Qworst representatives will refuse to tell you what your actual cost will be.
