The Mail is what is getting me mad. I have 7 receivers and it's like clockwork every Monday Morning all my receivers will have mail on them to be cleared. And like a previous poster said it's usually mail I don't want or don't need. What is so funny is when they tell you to subscribe today to a sports package that you are already subscribed to and have been for years and years and years. my subscription automatically renews itself every year and I pay for it. Why does directv find it necessary to remind me of something that I am already subscribing to? It does not make any sense!!!

I know everyone wants DVR's but a regular HD receiver doesn't show the ads.

If you have WHDVR, and at least one non DVR, use the non-DVR in your main viewing room and you get to avoid the ads while still having full DVR functionality. With the added benefit of picking the receiver to do the recording on.

A little mail icon is nothing to work up about. The ads in the guide are too much. One maybe. But almost a screens worth. The part that bugs me is that HBO 501 is apart from the rest.

If I'm browsing the premium channels in the guide and go to 501, the trick is to hit the PAGE DOWN button to go to 502. It jumps all the "ad banners" and puts 502 at the top of the next screen so you don't have to scroll individually through the ads.

Sorry, DIRECTV. You can cram all the ads you want into the guide and you still can't make me want to look at them ...

This is my solution. I get mail from them? I had no idea.

As for the banner ads in the Guide, you're dead on right there. They are incredibly annoying.

Yeah, the mail doesn't bother me. You can choose the ignore the mail but it's very hard to ignore all those banner ads crammed all together!
