Just got a automated Directv call letting me know that they will be taking away my distant local HD channel next month. Thanks for that great customer relations phone call. Also couldn't come at a worse time of year - thanks DTV!

You are in Detroit and have DNS???? Detroit has 5 locals in HD on DirecTV.

Sounds like D* is just conforming to the laws regarding DNS. Complain to your government officials - not D*! They have to abide by the law.

I dont understand, if you have the locals in HD from Detroit, why would you need the DNS?

I used to have the NYC DNS and frankly I hardly ever used them. When I did it was usually to double check on if a problem with a program, like bad video/audio was with the source or the local station. The only other time was when something 'big' happened in NYC, like the steam tunnel blow up or the crane accidents then I might tune in to see what the latest was.

Order Sunday Ticket. I could not find an antenna to get all my locals OTA and I could not get any waivers. Now I have my locals in HD. I am a Jets fan living in Pennsylvania so I get Sunday Ticket. It used to irritate me when I would read about people that received their locals in HD and DNS and I couldn't get anything.

I had Sunday ticket for 3 seasons about 10 years ago and was supposed to be on automatic early bird renewal but one year Directv didn't reinstate me and I never called back. Got Hotpass but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Directv gave me the option of keeping my old plan (Total Choice Plus) & keeping FOX HD EAST or upgrading to new HD plans. They knew my area had local HD channels -so what gives? Are they going to make me change my Total Choice Plus Plan now too?? I thought I was grandfathered in. Doesnt seem fair to me. After you have had something for many years and then they rip it away from you it stings.

I got the same call (Troy,MI.). I also thought I was grandfathered in. Anybody familiar with the grandfather rule?
